About Monika

I am a Hungarian native and an enthusiastic and energetic qualified English teacher who is passionate about teaching English as a Foreign language online (Skype and Messenger call). I have got a BA degree in English Studies and a TEFL degree. Whether you want to develop your general language acquisition, I would love to help you! Studying different learning styles and teaching many ages has made me adaptable, experienced and versatile in my approach. My teaching resources are always increasing. I enjoy critical thinking involved in formulating arguments and I find tutoring to be a creative and rewarding process. I am friendly and very approachable. It is important for individuals to be comfortable with the person they are working with. On Fridays and during School Holidays I am able to teach during the day on weekdays, on other weekdays I teach in the evenings and at the weekends I teach whole days flexibly. I am highly experienced at tutoring English as a Foreign Language and I have experience tutoring 11+ (secondary) and GCSE English. I have worked in classrooms with children of all ages throughout primary and secondary ages as well as I have been working on a one to one level tutoring secondary children and adults. I enjoy tailoring schemes of work to the needs of individual students to help them achieve their goals. Having a business background I am happy to help tutees with business English as well. I have been working as a teaching assistant at a secondary school in Southampton so I also have experience working with children who have ADHD and ADD, and understand the importance of relationship building as well as respecting each individual's concentration span. I believe that a great deal of pleasure can be gained from learning, and that this excitement for knowledge is something I communicate to the young people I teach. I can accept students on a 1:1 basis online. Everybody has various learning styles and I as a tutor adapt to teach individuals in the style they are most comfortable with. The need of the individual will be assessed in the first tutoring session. I tutor English to students helping them consolidating their knowledge on speaking, understanding, listening, reading and writing in English. I teach grammar, spelling, punctuation, paragraph writing and essay writing skills and assist students with understanding colloquialisms and conversational English. I believe in leading, motivating, supporting, challenging and developing students at all levels in order to achieve their success and providing constructive feedback. I feel like trying new techniques that could help students improve their skills and using modern and dynamic teaching methods to show students how to fluently communicate using the English language. Moreover, I love meeting new people and teaching in a relaxed conversational environment as well as I think that everyone learns in a different way. Throughout my years as a class teacher, I have tutored students 1:1 and in small groups, teaching them academic skills as well as coaching them on how to adapt a positive mindset to achieve their full potential. University : - Kodolanyi Janos University - English Studies BA [Excellent] - TEFL Academy - Teaching English as a Foreign Language [Distinction]

I worked together with Mónika as a teacher of English in a secondary school. She has got experience in teaching classes and 1:1 tutoring too. I know her as a highly motivated, focused, patient teacher who is always capable of finding the best and most suitable teaching methods for her students. She is a kind of teacher with whom it has always been a pleasure to work with and to be her student as well. Her personality has convinced me that she is more than just an average English teacher. I highly recommend her as a 1:1 tutor.

Monika has tutored a number of KS3 and KS4 student for me. For some students, this involved teaching the GCSE English curriculum and others complementing teaching through revision and reinforcement. Monika has a particular strength in engaging student 1:1. I have no reservations in recommending Monika as a tutor.
