About Gautam
I'm an English Hons. graduate of St. Stephen's College, Delhi. I postgraduated in English from Osmania University, and did my B.Ed. from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. I hold a TESL/TESOL certification from the Asian College of Teachers. I've taught students of various levels -- secondary, higher secondary, and college, as well as helped a few adults acquire fluency in English. The fact that I'm also a writer -- my writings have been published in India, the USA, the UK, Canada, and Hong Kong -- has helped me become proficient in the English language. To succeed in today's globalized world, it is important to be able to communicate well in English, and I've learned that, with the proper encouragement and guidance, it's entirely possible for students with a non-English-medium educational background to become reasonably good English speakers, even when their grammar or pronunciation is not perfect.

We'll mostly chat in English, with the student doing most of the talking. In between we'll have a few grammar, vocabulary, and reading lessons. We'll also role-play sometimes. For example, the student may be asked to imagine he/she is on a street asking for directions.
