About Barney
I have just graduated from the Open University with a First-class Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History. During my degree I studied modules from a wide range of historical periods including Medieval, Early modern, Modern and the Roman Empire. I also developed skills like effective reading, planning and preparation, essay writing and exam technique - all of which are transferable to, and important for, subjects like English. The nature of OU study also provided effective methods of distance learning that are valuable to tutoring.

History Graduate with First-Class Honours, teaches English, History and other subjects in the Norwich area. I have good knowledge of the periods covered by GCSE curriculums and am passionate about inspiring students to fulfil their potential.
I am happy to tailor my lessons around the needs of the student so we can discover how they learn best. As a recent graduate I am relatively new to tutoring but have experience working with young people. Lessons are typically an hour long but I can be flexible with length if longer or shorter is more appropriate.
I am happy to work with any age and ability. While History is my main subject area the transferable skills such as essay writing, effective reading and communication are just as important to achieve well in English. I also have several years experience working in a bookshop and have always read widely so my knowledge of the literature side of English lessons is strong.
I can also help with proofreading essays, writing techniques, exam preparation and revision. Please get in touch if you have any questions!
