About Sara

I am a recent Oxford University graduate in History, a subject I have fallen in love with the more I studied it. I look forward to sharing my passion for this subject with my students and engaging them with it.
I have also gone through the process of applying successfully to Oxford University, and I hope to help and support those who wish to undertake this journey too!
I also have extensive experience tutoring both A Level and GCSE history students, though I am able to help with lower levels too.

About the lesson

Having recently completed my history degree, I am freshly acquainted with the demands of the subject at GCSE and A levels. I was among the first year to sit the new GCSEs and therefore had to get to grip with the structure of the exam quickly, which I successfully did and attained a 9. The analytical and research skills I have gained then I later developed throughout my achievements at history A Level. Now having completed a degree in the subject, I have a wider view of the journey that took me here and look forward to using this perception to support fellow historians at GCSE and A levels, as well as at earlier stages!

I believe that a tutoring lesson should be built around the needs of the student. It is important to initially sit down with them and discuss concerns, gaps, questions and go from there to build on the lessons. It is this tailored approach that I would take, since everyone learns at different levels and it is important to gauge this first of all.
I would also look to familiarise myself with the demands of their exams, working on techniques of writing as well as knowledge building in an engaging way!

A typical lesson will take up to an hour, but this can be extended based on individual demand, as I aim to work with a student as often as needed to attain the desirable result!
