About Joseph

I am highly passionate about history, having studied it from GCSE and A-Level all the way to a Master's Degree. Presently, I specialise in medieval social history. I received a 9 at GCSE and an A* at A-Level, covering modules such as: The Wars of the Roses; Modern America; The Tudors; Crime and Punishment; 20th-century Germany. As well as this, studying history for three years at university has greatly broadened my understanding of the various disciplines involved in the field. Therefore, while my experience may be best suited to students covering modules similar to mine, the variety of my study is valuable to all history students. Beyond history, I also have a great deal of experience with politics. I received an A* at A-Level, and have continued to see crossover with the subject throughout my history degree.

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed low-pressure, focusing on building strong essay writing skills and clear, confident arguments. My own qualifications make my lessons more tailored to A-Level and GCSE students but any students of history or politics are welcome. I also don’t have a specific time length for my lessons, with this instead depending on the student’s needs and personal preference. I look to aid students in structuring essays, developing convincing points, and using their evidence effectively. Another key aspect is encouraging students to think critically and form their own judgements. Every session is tailored to individual needs, whether that’s boosting grades, refining exam technique, or strengthening analytical skills. I not only aim to improve students’ writing, however, but also look to increase confidence in expressing themselves with clarity, precision, and conviction in both academic and real-world discussions.
