About Mary
Hi! I'm Mary, a third-year History and Politics student at the University of Exeter. My degree is four years long due to a year abroad. I'm friendly and approachable but also serious about education and wanting everyone to have the skills to succeed! I'm a Leeds United fan, so please don't ask how the football is going! I used to work for an in-person tuition company, beginning when I was 17, which sparked a passion for helping children reach their full potential. I tutored children aged 4-16 in English and Maths and the 11+ entrance exam at the centre and online when covid hit! Since attending university, I want to specialise my tutoring in the subjects I enjoy and share my passion for it. Being a tutor previously means that I have a lot of transferrable skills, such as marking and planning lessons that I can use to tailor our sessions to fit your needs.

The key to learning is being excited and interested in what you are doing. I hope my enthusiasm will rub off on my tutee, making them as excited for our session as I am. This means hosting engaging lessons with the content of the course. However, there would also be a focus on exam technique, as there are a lot of hoops to jump through to boost grades even if you have all the correct information! Lessons would last an hour for both A-level and GCSE level
