About Ruth
I have a BA Hons in History and Political Science, an MA in Political Science and a Graduate Diploma in Law. I am going back to university to complete my Legal Practice Course and having previously tutored during my studies I am interested in finding some tutoring work. I really enjoy helping students learn and achieve their goals.
I have previously tutored two individuals in GCSE History. One of them received an A* and one an A - both achieved grades that they were happy with.

I would be interested in tutoring GCSE level students and A Level students in History or Politics. In particular, I think I am ideally suited to assisting students who need a little extra help outside of their school. Whether that be to help them build knowledge, skills or confidence.
I have previously tutored people on an individual basis, and this is something I would look to do in the future. I find that individual tutoring makes it easier to connect to the student and help them develop.
My teaching style varies depending on the student, however I always aim to teach in an interactive manner. Generally, I find that an individually tailored approach is best, given that different students need help in different way. As such, on my first meeting with the student I discuss the ways they feel they learn best, find out what things they want to develop and improve and find out what things they feel they struggle with. Based on this, I can then develop lesson plans - whether this be to focus on essay practice, revision skills or consolidating knowledge using source papers and text books. Further, I like to use a variety of different methods and resources to help the student in whatever way they need. Mixing up the lessons and using different techniques helps keep things exciting and interesting.
