About Neill
I’m an experienced Maths and Physics tutor with an Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Information Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Security. I specialise in the Scottish curriculum, tutoring Higher Maths, National 5 Maths and National 5 Physics. I’ve been tutoring for a number of years alongside my professional career and particularly enjoy helping pupils who have lost confidence in a subject or feel they have fallen behind. Maths often becomes much less intimidating once someone takes the time to explain the reasoning behind it. I’m friendly, patient and approachable, but I also want pupils to make real progress. My aim is not simply to get them through the next piece of homework, but to improve their understanding and give them the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions themselves.

Every pupil is different, so I tailor lessons to what they actually need rather than following a fixed programme. We’ll identify any gaps in understanding and work through them clearly and methodically, using examples and exam-style questions to build both ability and confidence. For pupils approaching exams, we’ll increasingly focus on SQA-style questions, past papers, problem-solving and exam technique. I want pupils to understand why a method works rather than simply memorising a set of steps. Lessons are relaxed and supportive, and pupils are encouraged to ask questions whenever something doesn’t make sense. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Sessions are normally one hour and are available online during evenings and weekends.
