About Ava

I am a current high school student with a strong background in math and science. I completed my chemistry course with a 97 average, physics with a 98 average, and geometry with a 100 average. I am currently entering my junior year, where I will be taking both AP Chemistry and AP Calculus AB.

Chemistry was a subject I especially enjoyed because it combines logical thinking, problem-solving, mathematics, and an understanding of how scientific concepts connect. I like breaking down complicated problems and making topics that initially seem confusing feel much more manageable.

Because I have recently completed high school chemistry myself and am continuing into AP Chemistry, I understand the types of concepts, calculations, laboratory-related material, and test questions students are likely to encounter. I also understand where students commonly become confused, especially when a problem involves several steps or requires them to connect multiple concepts.

I am patient, organized, and approachable, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about getting something wrong. My goal as a tutor is to help students strengthen their understanding of chemistry, improve their problem-solving skills, and feel more confident when completing assignments and preparing for tests.

About the lesson

My chemistry lessons are designed to make challenging concepts easier to understand by breaking them down into clear, manageable steps. I work at each student’s pace and focus on making sure they understand the reasoning behind a concept instead of simply memorizing formulas or definitions.

A typical lesson begins by reviewing what the student is currently learning in class and identifying the areas where they need the most help. We then go through examples together, practice problems step by step, and gradually work toward problems the student can complete more independently. I can also help with homework, test and quiz preparation, reviewing class notes, and strengthening weak areas before an exam.

I can help with topics such as atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, naming compounds, balancing equations, stoichiometry, moles, reactions, acids and bases, gas laws, and other introductory chemistry concepts.

I am patient, encouraging, and comfortable explaining the same concept in different ways until it makes sense. My goal is to help students feel less overwhelmed by chemistry and become more confident in both the concepts and the problem-solving involved.
