About Amber
Hey there, my name is Amber and I'm currently a high school senior from Atlantic Canada! Some of my interests include cooking, baking, arts and crafts, walking, listening to music and studying and I'm really passionate about psychology, specifically biopsychology, neuroscience, abnormal and personality psychology and cognition. After I finish this semester, I plan on taking a gap year to earn some money and then moving away to attend McMaster University for psychology, neuroscience and behavior and hopefully getting into the field of psychoneuroimmunology. I hope that if you choose me to be your tutor, I'll get to know more about you too!

My teaching and lesson plans are very precise, detail-oriented and methodical, as that's how I personally study and have achieved success in academic settings given my learning struggles. Throughout my high school career, I have created several Quizlets, online notes and practice tests in all the subjects I've taken. This keeps the material organized and ready for exams and tests and, when it comes time for revision, I use active-recall, reteaching and several other study methods to ensure success, all of which I strive to teach my students thoroughly.
As a tutor, I will:
- Improve understanding by breaking content into smaller steps, using analogies and diagrams
- Teach effective study methods, such as active-recall, blurting, spaced repetition, the Feynman technique and several others, ensuring success in a wide range of subjects
- provide thorough, detailed custom notes, Quizlets, practice tests, diagrams and explanations
- accommodate a large variety of learning needs, including those with ADHD, Autism, performance anxiety and learning disabilities
My specialties are in biology, genetics, microbiology, psychology, neuroscience, statistics and basic and intermediate French.
My lessons are geared towards middle school and high school students, specifically in the realms of science, language and math.
