Iam a retired high school science teacher and Wrestling and Football assistant coach fluent in Spanish with 22 years of experience teaching in a low income minority district. I served in the First Gulf War as Communications Officer and a U.S. Navy Lieutenant in charge of Radiomen and Signalmen onboard a Guided Missile destroyer.

My favorite teaching method is to first motivate the students by starting a lesson with a demonstration capturing their attention and curiosity and letting them observe and write what they observe in the firm of a question to a problem. Then I let them research the problem in small groups preferably so they can collaborate and share possible answers to their questions and write them or frame them as a hypothesis. Then, I let them research on how they are going to possibly prove their hypothesis by letting them construct an experiment or writing a procedure step by step with what raw materials they will need and how they will use the tools and what graphic organizers or tables to store their data. Then I let them actually perform their experiments collecting data and writing them in their data tables. Later they will analyze their data using graphs and establish correlations or equations that fit their data assuming there is a cause and effect relationship. They will perform calculations using graphing calculators. Finally, I let them publish their findings by writing a research paper or lab report and each group will present to the class their findings. Each group will share their data with the rest of the class and as a class we will graph the class data to see if there is a tighter fit or correlation coefficient.
