About Shelby
I am a teacher with home instruction tutoring experience, I have substitute taught in several schools for the past few years. I have had up to 150 students in my classes and tutored three home based students at a time. I have experience working with kids of all ages.

I have a teaching in ELA for grades 7-12 and have worked an equal amount of time in both high schools and middle schools. Most of my teaching is based on discovery and modeling, I often have students practice or read to learn a skill then show the skill by modeling and afterwards they demonstrate the skill to show understanding. The goal of all my lessons is mastery of a concept or skill, in ELA instruction there is a lot of circling back to prior knowledge and my lessons and assessments reflect this.
