About Josh
During my GCSEs, the IB diploma program as well as my undergraduate studies in UQ, I was often overwhelmed with the amount of content that was presented to me when it came to biology and biomedical sciences. After a lot of hit and trial, I understood that learning biology wasn't about knowing everything, it was about making an image or video in your mind which you could remember when you needed to. I thus started using studying methods such as the Feynman technique and it all slowly started coming together. By studying this way, I was able to study for the GAMSAT and get into med school here at UQ.
Through my lessons, I don't just intent to teach you biology, but I want to set you up for learning how to learn biology. Trust me, there will be a lot of independent learning in uni and you need to equipped with your own methods of learning.

Subjects such as biology are immensely content heavy which often lead to students rote learning without having actually understood what's being presented. Being a med student, my philosophy towards biology has always been a little different. Biology exists within us and around us, with various organic processes occurring at the same time, all the time. Despite being so in touch with biology, we often are not able to understand it due to there being lack of context. I intend to provide lessons which deliver information in a way that is not only applicable for exams, but also applicable in a real world scenario. This allows for greater relatability and consequently greater comprehension for what's actually occurring.
Having given the Graduate medical school admissions test and actually being in med, I realised how important it is for me to actually have an in-depth understanding of concepts which allows me to actually apply knowledge.
A typical length of my lesson will be an hour, however I can extend it to two. I am willing to provide biology lessons to kids upwards of grade/year 9, GCSE biology and IB biology.
