About Matthias

I hold a Master's degree in Creative Writing from Boston University and a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Chicago. For ten years, I taught English full time at North Central College. I know how to help you with writing projects of all kinds, from personal essays to dissertations in the humanities. As a former director of a college Writing Center, I can help students tackle writing projects large and small. I am the author of several poetry collections as well as scholarly works. I have edited several professional literary and academic journals. As a professional writer, I can help you to improve creative and critical works for submission.

About the lesson

Writing is difficult. It is more difficult when we do it alone. When you get stuck with a writing project of any kind, the best way to get unstuck is to share your project with an experienced writer and editor. For nearly 18 years, I have helped writers to find effective, creative solutions to the problems that all writers face. I will listen to your goals, read your drafts, and give you specific advice for creating practical, practice-based improvements to whatever aspects of writing you find most challenging.

Perfect! helpful in pointing out areas where I could strengthen my arguments but also in highlighting the strengths of my essay. His positive comments provided me with a great sense of encouragement and validation for the effort I put into crafting my work.

Perfect! Matthias was one of the best professors I have ever met in my college studies. In fact, he was the first teacher who really teaches me how to write a high-quality English literature essay. Matthias was passionate and engaged. He always encouraged me to read carefully, think critically and write clearly. Under his advice and guidance, I was able to make significant progress. I highly recommend him when you need help in your English literature courses.

Dr. Matthias Regan was one of my favorite professors during his time at North Central College. He was patient and knowledgeable while working with me. Without his guidance and advice, I wouldn't be the writer I am today. I highly recommend him as a writing mentor, he will challenge you and elevate you. His constructive criticism isn't too harsh but also isn't too lenient, it's the perfect blend! He also truly cares about your progress and has a passion for writing and helping others.

I've taken a bunch of classes with Dr. Matthias Regan, and I can say with the utmost confidence that I've never learnt so much about literature or writing from any other professor. Dr. Regan is very patient, and cares about his students, he is always willing to help until you understand all the material and concepts, and his feedback and comments are extremely helpful and valuable. I am definitely a much better writer now because of Dr. Regan and would highly recommend everyone to sign up for sessions with Dr. Regan.
