About Erin

Hi everybody my name is Erin. I am a huge music fan and spend hours listening to a huge variety of styles of music. I also really love watching dramas from lots of different countries. In recent years I have also found a real passion for learning, both for myself and in teaching others. After my course at university finishes I plan on taking a 1-year teaching degree and going into primary school teaching. At university I am currently a committee member for the British Sign Language society and I am also activity studying Japanese and French as well as brushing up on my English and Maths skills for when I become a teacher. I am by no means an expert in my field but I am hugely passionate about sociology and I know a lot about vast topics within it. During my a-levels I was frequently getting A's in assessments but due to Covid my love for learning declined and I gave up studying, ending up with a B. The reason I have chose to be honest rather than making out I am the best option to tutor you is because in all honesty everybody wants to be tutored by the best and I know I cannot make up that I am the best. But I can guarantee that if you choose me I will do my best to make sociology interesting for you, engage in debates with you and bring the fun to learning that is all too often lost. I am capable of helping you through your sociology course and will give my all to it.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching is to help you enjoy what you learn. If you have a go-to attitude and enjoy what you are learning then you are much more likely to be able to take it in and understand what you are being taught. I am more than happy to go over tests with you but it is important to remember that tests are not the limit of your knowledge and that whilst these exams are important, they also do not define you or your learning abilities. The length of the lesson can vary depending on what you would prefer but on average I would provide a 60 minute lesson. I have experience as a mentor at university for a first year undergraduate and helped her to improve her grades. If I can help an undergraduate then I hope to be able to help anybody at GCSE or A-level stages too. Overall I do not have specific restrictions on the age group or the length of the lesson but the key is to increase your confidence and attitude towards the subject and the learning will naturally come alongside that.
