About Yvonne

As a native of Guatemala, my journey to becoming a Spanish teacher began in my childhood, when I realized my deep desire to teach. At 39 years old, I have fulfilled that dream and have been passionately dedicated to teaching for over 14 years. My extensive experience has allowed me to develop an empathetic, patient, and understanding approach to education. I am driven by a genuine desire to help others and a profound love for the Spanish language. Teaching is not just my profession; it is my true passion.

About the lesson

With over 14 years of dedicated experience, I am a professional and passionate Spanish tutor specializing in online instruction. As a native Guatemalan, I offer an authentic, rich cultural perspective that goes beyond basic grammar, helping students develop a natural, comfortable fluency. My goal is to empower learners of all ages to speak Spanish with confidence.
My extensive background includes working with a diverse range of students, from children and teenagers to high-schoolers and adults. I understand that each learner has unique goals and needs, which is why I tailor every lesson to you. From our very first session, we will establish clear, achievable objectives to ensure you are consistently progressing and getting the most out of our time together.
My primary focus is to help you achieve true conversational fluency and comfort. I believe that the best way to learn is by speaking, and my teaching style is designed to get you talking from day one. Whether you are aiming to prepare for an exam, travel with ease, or simply connect with Spanish speakers in your community, I will provide the personalized support and structured guidance you need to succeed.

I have been studying with Yvonne for over a year and my Spanish has improved dramatically. She has helped me to strengthen the basics of the language and to use the right phrases and word choices in speaking. We meet every week and she is totally present and reliable for our lessons. In a relatively short time we have progressed to having hour- long conversations in Spanish with Yvonne guiding my continued learning. I highly recommend her as a teacher.

I have been taking lessons with Yvonne for over 10 years, and she has truly been an amazing teacher throughout. As a working mom, I only have time for one hour a week and, unfortunately, not much time to study in between lessons. Despite that, I continue to improve every year thanks to her teaching.

She is wonderfully flexible with her approach—sometimes I prefer a more structured lesson, and other times I just want to focus on conversation. Either way, she always adapts to what I need. If you’re looking for conversation practice, she is so much fun to talk to, and over the years she has become not just my teacher but also a very good friend.

I could not recommend her more highly! Whether you’re a complete beginner or already advanced, she is the perfect teacher to help you learn Spanish.
