About Miah

Miah is a professional drummer, author, and educator with real-world experience across rock, blues, and funk. He holds a B.A. in Drum Performance from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he's also served as faculty, and performs with acts including the DTF Band, Stonebreed, The Van-Dells, and Crenshaw. His credits include live television and radio appearances, opening for Steve Vai, Toto, Sabbath Knights, L.A. Guns, and many more. He has done studio work with Grammy-nominated and award-winning producers. Miah teaches drummers of every level, from first-time beginners to advanced players refining technique, timing, and musicality. Lessons are patient, practical, and built around each student's goals, whether that's learning favorite songs, building fundamentals, or preparing for professional work. About the lesson

My lessons cover three core areas: rudiments, drum set techniques, and chart reading/writing—all reinforced with essential music theory. My #1 goal is to make learning fun while guiding students toward their musical passions and building real proficiency along the way. With teaching experience spanning ages 4 to 70 and institutions from local music stores to Musicians Institute, I'm equipped to work with students at every skill level. Angel is brand new to playing music, yet seems like a natural. After 15 minutes she's already playing 8th on the hi hats and quarters on the kick drum with no prior experience on the drums. Looking forward to seeing what the musical future holds for her.

Perfect! Miah was just was I was looking for, within minutes of the lesson I already felt comfortable and was learning things about the drums I never knew existed and could only be demonstrated in person. No question was a dumb one and he answered everything I asked. I learned a lot from our 1st lesson and have some homework to do and looking forward to learning more from him. Highly recommend him to any drummer looking to learn and have fun at the same time!

Jason has a solid presence on the drums, fairly good time, and has a good foundation to now better improve his technique, dynamics, and endurance. We will start to work on reading and then writing music, as well as playing songs Jason wants to learn.
