About Marcela
Having 15 years of experience in a multitude of different educational settings, I have come to the conclusion that everyone learns at a different pace and has their own learning style. I am confident that there is always something to take away when learning, even when we do not feel that we are learning. I consider myself a lifelong learner because I simply do not have all the answers, but I most certainly treat my students with the kindness and respect they deserve.

I use a mixture of direct instruction, which is more traditional, inquiry based learning, blended learning, and personalized learning and using differentiated instruction to help students achieve their educational goals.
A typical lesson plan for a K-5 session would include the direct instruction while making sure that the student is engaging and also acquiring all the information needed to continue their learning. Once we have that set, we work on activities related to the subject being taught. I do an example, we work on one together, and then I ask students to work independently. I will scaffold along, and if students are not understanding, I ask students (if they are older) where they feel they are struggling. Younger students need a lot of repetition and examples to get through an activity before they are able to independently work on something.
Currently, I create and work with lessons for students who are K-5 who are struggling in reading and math.
