About Reese

My name is Reese Hollister, and I hail from Newtown, PA. I am a graduating student of History and International Studies. I concentrate in the study of Africa and the Middle East, and I minor in the Arabic language. I have been a College Reading and Language Association (CRLA) certified tutor, and I have three years experience as a Peer-Educator, Writing Consultant, and History Supplemental Instructor at my college's Center for Academic Success.

I encourage students to ask big questions and then answer them themselves. As a student of History, I strongly believe that there are social scientific methods to uncovering deep significances.

Personally, I am a skateboarder, as I picked up the hobby during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Skateboarding brings me much joy. I founded the Skateboarding Society at my college, encouraging college students to pick up the sport in their free-time.

I am a big advocate for healthy habits, whether they be related to study or life itself. I would love to learn more about you, and I thank you for visiting my profile. I hope to work with you soon.

As a History and International Studies major at Manhattan College, I specialize in teaching about the histories of the Atlantic World. I ask, how did the lives Native Americans, Europeans, Africans, and American Settlers all intersect? My World History coursework includes Decolonization: The End of Empires, Diplomatic History of the Vietnam Wars, Diplomatic History of the Ottoman Empire, Premodern Women and Gender History, Modern Japan, Premodern East Asian Civilizations, Introduction to African History, Muslims & The Holocaust, and The Industrial Revolution. I have taken extensive coursework on World Religions. My teaching experience includes the courses: "Human Rights in World History," "World History 1600 - Present," and "Roots History: Slavery and Liberation."

I have three years of experience as a Writing Consultant, Peer-Tutor, and History Supplemental Instructor with Dr. Jeff Horn.
