About Rosa
I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Spanish Literature/Cultural Studies at the University of Florida. For the past seven years, I have been dedicated to this field, driven by my career aspirations and personal passion. I am fascinated by the narratives of Iberian and Latin-American writers, who skillfully address topics of social inequality that continue to impact our society. I am eager to expand my knowledge of cultural and literary arts and to share my passion by educating others on the importance of cultural understanding through literature, which is a powerful instrument for fostering meaningful dialogue. I believe that the opportunity to contribute to the intellectual community at the University of Florida would be valuable, and I am excited about the prospect of furthering the understanding of Spanish Literature and Cultural Studies.

I completed my Bachelor of Spanish with a minor in International Studies at the University of North Florida in April 2019. During my studies, I explored Iberian Hispanic Culture and Literature, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, and the cultures of Latin America. I contributed to a research project on “El Mio Cid,” helping translate the epic poems into modern language for better student understanding. After completing my Spanish BA, I obtained my Spanish MA at the University of Central Florida in April 2024. My focus included Epic Literature, the Golden Age, and 18th to 19th-century literature, covering romanticism, realism, and social realism. I also examined the historical and socio-cultural challenges of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America during Spanish colonial rule through books and peer-reviewed articles. Currently, I am completing the Initial Teaching Preparation Program Certificate, which provides insights into ethical education and effective teaching methods for Spanish Literature.
