About Mila
I have a master's MSE in reading and a near-master's MA (no thesis) in Spanish linguistics. My bachelor's BA is in Spanish language. I worked in educational publishing for over 11 years, almost all of it dedicated to developing programs for teaching high school Spanish. I taught Spanish as a graduate student at UT Austin. I've been teaching early literacy for over two years.

Beginner & Intermediate Learners Explicit instruction: Follow a scope & sequence and teach language directly at the beginning of the lesson; then have student use the vocabulary, phrases, grammar on their own along with any other language they may already know. Communicative approach: Present a context for the student to produce their own language; elicit key language and grammar concepts from the student. All Learners Accent & pronunciation: Following student's own requests or from speech samples, help student with articulation of sounds in Spanish. For English speakers, I can build on the sounds of English.
