About Ivan
Hello! I'm Ivan, a dedicated researcher and aspiring medical professional currently pursuing my Master's degree in medical science and human physiology at the University of Toronto. With a passion for understanding the intricacies of the human body, I conduct research at Mount Sinai Hospital, delving into the complexities of medical science.
My academic journey has been enriched by my role as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto, where I've had the privilege of guiding students through advanced biology courses. Additionally, I've had the honor of presenting my research at various international scientific conferences, earning recognition through prestigious awards for my contributions.
Maintaining a perfect GPA of 4.0 in my graduate studies, I previously obtained a Bachelor's degree with Honors in Human Biology from the University of Toronto, graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.95. My academic foundation was further strengthened by completing high school under the Canadian Alberta curriculum in Hong Kong, providing me with unique insights into the challenges faced by recent immigrants.
Driven by a desire to merge my academic pursuits with practical experience, I plan to embark on a medical career in Canada upon completing my Master's degree. As a researcher and scientist myself, outside of helping students grasp complex concepts, my teaching style focuses on understanding course content rather than traditional memorization, emphasizing critical thinking and reasoning skills. I believe students need to develop not only scientific knowledge but also competency in thinking, reasoning, and scientific inquiry.
Regarding my specialty, my tutoring sessions typically cover all levels of biology, from high school to undergraduate levels. Additionally, I can cover math and other high school sciences.
Lastly, for high school students planning to enter university or undergraduates wishing to pursue graduate degrees, my tutoring sessions offer academic advising and counseling to help plan for their futures.
