About Kate

Are you searching for a kind, professional, experienced, and passionate academic English tutor? Look no further!

I am here to spruce up your or your child's English language skills in time for an exam or to impress any English teacher. As a current graduate student at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science with a degree from McGill University, I am available to be the tutor to help you prepare for strenuous university essay writing in any subject.

I have helped an eighth-grade student go from a below-average English grade to being at the top of his class. The mother of a student with severe dyslexia phoned me with the exciting news that her daughter whom I had been tutoring had been rewarded with the class English Literature award. During my days as an undergraduate student at McGill, I gave essay-writing sessions to my peers and helped them to revise complex analyses and boost their GPAs.

I understand what it is like to go into class or to start that important assignment lacking confidence in your writing abilities. I look forward to helping students level up their English language skills.

When I first meet with a student, I will try to identify which skills and subject areas they hope to develop. During this preliminary session, I will also ask them about school subjects that they enjoy and their hobbies and extracurriculars. This way, I can tailor our lessons to their unique needs and interests. For example, when helping with an eighth-grade student's writing skills, I used creative writing exercises with a Star Wars theme. As the student was an avid Star Wars fan, this technique ensured that the student was consistently engaged and excited about learning.

While this approach is most beneficial for younger students, I also have experience tutoring high school students and students in their undergraduate studies. I studied English Literature and Political Science at McGill and have received exceptional reviews for my teaching of essay writing, poetry, and literary analysis.
