About Matthew

I have held a variety of jobs growing up, including being a youth soccer referee, a convenience store team member, and a high school sports commentator. I became a tutor during my second year of university studies and have been one every academic semester since then. Over this span of time, I have had the privilege of working with a variety of students and subjects, from 8th grade ISEE prep to graduate-level theology. Prior to Superprof, I primarily tutored on Varsity Tutors, and before that, I was a tutor through my undergraduate institution's tutoring center. I am a graduate student at the New School for Social Research studying Philosophy with a concentration in Psychoanalytic Studies. Tutoring has given me the opportunity to connect with people over material that I am deeply moved by. I hope that I get to share my passion and knowledge with you in a mutually enlightening and enjoyable way! About the lesson

I love tutoring because I get to share knowledge that I am passionate about and create meaningful connections with students that often are no longer present in our current educational system. In practice, this means that I will learn about how you connect with academic material and what you struggle with, always prioritizing those crucial and personal details over everything else. It also means that the tutoring session is more like a mutual conversation as opposed to a top-down teacher-to-student situation. When tutoring with me, you always have the space to speak your mind and be honest about whatever academic troubles you are having. I have had great results employing these tutoring principles, maintaining a 4.9/5 rating on varsitytutors.com and creating many long-lasting academic connections with clients, who aren't shy to ask for help, even years after we originally met for tutoring! I have four years of experience tutoring levels and subjects ranging from elementary school math and reading all the way to graduate-level philosophical theology. I have carved out a bit of a niche for myself in the area of undergraduate first-order logic.
