About Taylor
I am currently a graduate student at California State East Bay in the Biological Sciences program researching fungal diversity and ecology in montane wetland systems. I received my undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida. While my specific research focuses on mycology, I have a broad range of experience and expertise in marine biology, forest ecology, fire ecology, botany, plant physiology, conservation, restoration, the natural history of California and beyond. I have been teaching for over six years to a diverse array of audiences of all ages, from community college students to youth programs. I am passionate about learning and teaching in the natural sciences. I teach about a variety of subjects in the biological sciences including but not limited to: genetics, microbiology, cell biology, conservation biology, taxonomy, evolution, ecology and restoration ecology.

Biology and ecology can be daunting subjects, and I try my best to make them fun and interesting while fostering authentic curiosity for my students.
I lead with an inquiry-based approach to teaching where students are driven by their own curiosity and questions, and together we actively explore real-world problems and concepts to help them construct their own understanding. I rely heavily on visual aids for complex topics. My ultimate goal is to foster deep understanding of the natural world and make this knowledge accessible for anyone... AND get students an A on that AP biology test!
These lessons are aimed at middle and high school students that need help getting a strong foundation in subjects within the biological sciences.
