About Maria Alejandra

I'm an 18-year-old woman who, although I don't teach full-time, is passionate about it. Knowing that I'm helping someone, regardless of age, achieve a goal and being part of their growth makes me feel fulfilled. I have the advantage of understanding how children, teenagers, and adults work and learn, since I've been through two of those stages and am currently in the last. I know what it feels like to learn a new language, how frustrating it can be not to understand quickly, which is why I believe I have the right tools to help. I understand that feeling, and that's why my teaching methods are tailored to each person, identifying their weaknesses and helping to minimize that frustration.

Depending on the age group, I adapt my learning methods to best suit their needs. The most important thing is practice—learning in a fun and creative way. For example, in a class for young children, I might start with a short karaoke introduction of a children's song in Spanish. Then, if the goal that day is for the students to learn colors, I would have them color using guides in Spanish. For teenagers, I would go deeper into debates and explore topics they are passionate about. Finally, for older students, I show them an image and ask them to describe it to expand their vocabulary. In all three cases, I avoid translations as much as possible, explaining the meaning of each word in the original language.
