About Corinne
I am a current nursing student at University of Pennsylvania. I received my undergraduate degree at Brown University in Biology, where I also captained their Division 1 field hockey team. Although I love to learn, it did not always come easy. During my first couple years at Brown, I received tutoring services for several different classes. Those relationships with my tutors were so pivotal to my success, interest, and confidence, that I later went on to serve as either a tutor or teaching assistant in those same courses, including Chemistry, Genetics, Biology, and microbiology/immunology. Through my time tutoring and working as a teaching assistant, I have gained experience both working with students in a one-on-one setting and in group settings.
Currently, I am receiving my nursing degree at the University of Pennsylvania through their accelerated, 18-month program. Although I am pursuing a nursing degree, I cannot ignore my passion for teaching and learning. I feel so grateful to have had such great tutors in the past. The lessons I learned from them have lasted long past the end of the course. They helped me realize my learning style, develop strong study habits, and fueled my curiosity and passion for learning. It is my goal to be this person for each of my tutees. I hope I can help them realize their potential, develop successful study strategies, and grow in confidence in their abilities (even in those super tough classes!).

My teaching approach is finding what works for each student I work with. When I served as a teaching assistant for the genetics course offered at Brown University, I worked with any student who came to office hours. I recognize that not everyone has the same learning style. Some students preferred using white boards, where others preferred discussion. Some students learn by first attempting problems/questions themselves, whereas others prefer listening to explanations. I also take into account focus ability. Personally, my own study approach includes working with material for an hour and then taking a break. I have worked with students who benefit from mental breaks every 30 minutes, and students who like to sit down for 2 hours with material. My goal is to understand what works best for each student.
