About Katie

I love to travel and I usually spend my time abroad practising languages or reading. I have recently graduated from the University of Southampton in Spanish, French and Arabic, and I'm currently working on my Portuguese, Greek and German skills. Previously, I worked as a teaching assistant and I loved watching the progress of my students, as well as planning activities for 1-to-1 or group sessions. This experience was primarily with SEN students so I would be happy to tutor anyone with additional needs. Let me know if you have any questions - I look forward to hearing from you!

About the lesson

I look to focus my lessons on what the student needs, be that speaking, listening, reading, writing or grammar. I use games and quizzes to keep pupils engaged, but aim my activities at the age of my student. My lessons are 1 hour long, including a 5 minute break, and I teach GCSE, A-Level, Undergraduate or even conversation practice for anyone wanting to improve their French or Spanish without preparing for an exam. I love helping people prepare for a trip by learning some basic phrases! The locals are always happy to hear people trying to speak French or Spanish. Homework is optional - if you'd like some extra work to keep practising between lessons, I can provide some but there's never any pressure. I want my classes to be fun and relaxed.

Languages are an incredible tool for the workplace and travel and I wouldn't want anyone's financial situation to impede them studying a language. I try to keep my prices as low as possible for that reason and ensure that my students get as much out of their lessons as possible.
