About Isabel

After having studied a variety of languages at different levels over the years, my confidence in language learning has improved immensely and I now no longer view it as a daunting process but an exciting one.

As a tutor, I would love to help my students achieve these same levels of confidence whether it be for their GCSE's/A levels or just generally. It is important to me to help students not view making mistakes as a setback but as something that we all do even in our native languages! Confidence is incredibly important in language learning but so is enjoying the process.

I also aim to make my lessons accessible to every student's needs and abilities and to guide them toward achieving the grades that they deserve. I will provide them with resources that will help them in areas that they struggle in whilst also encouraging their strengths.

Positivity and encouragement is what I aim to provide in all my lessons!

About the lesson

My teaching motto:
My main focus is on enhancing my students' confidence in learning their chosen language as it is important for me to ensure that they don't feel intimidated and to learn that it is okay to make mistakes! One of the ways in which I do so is to help them feel fully immersed in the language by offering and guiding them toward resources to use inside and outside of class that they can in turn adopt into their daily routine. I like to recommend resources such as podcasts, radio shows, books, and much more so they can learn to see the fun in language learning and hopefully not view it as an intimidating process but rather an accessible one.

Exam preparation is of course equally important, however, having gone through the experience myself I can offer both personal advice and the resources that I used to achieve my 9's/A*'s in both my French and Spanish GCSE and A-Levels. Exams can seem scary, especially language ones, so at the beginning of my sessions, I usually ask my students to identify their weaknesses and what they specifically require help with so that we can improve them together and ensure that they feel at ease in time for their exams.

Length:
The duration of my lessons depends on the students' needs, however, I typically run 30-minute sessions or 60-minute sessions.

Experience as a tutor:

I have previously tutored GCSE students in both French and Spanish in the lead-up to their exams helping them both with their exam preparation and general language skills to ensure they obtain the grade that they deserve.
Having taken French and Spanish A level and obtaining a degree qualification in Spanish, I believe I can also confidently guide any student looking to prepare or improve their language skills at a further level, including A level.

I teach both GCSE and A-level Spanish and GCSE French. However, I am open to teaching at other levels also.
