About Ellie
I am a 22 year old female in her first year of a Genetics PhD at the University of Sussex.
I graduated from Aberystwyth University with a First Class Honours in Molecular Genetics in 2017 where I specialised in meiotic and mitotic chromosome activity, cell biology, cancer biology, and neuroscience. However my degree modules included a wide range of biological subjects, including: zoology, microbiology, evolution & conservation, bioinformatics, and biological research methods.
Prior to my first degree I studied Biology at GCSE and A-level obtaining A* grades for both.
I am new to the tutoring industry, therefore I do not boast any professional experience. Though, being the oldest of four I have had a lot of experience in "tutoring" my younger siblings during GCSE's and A-levels. I hope to soon be able to update this section of my profile!

I would like to take a student-centred approach to teaching, I think it is important to understand that we all learn in different ways. In order for the student to get the most out of their tutor I would like to take the first session to discuss the students academic goals, learning style, strengths in the subject, and also their weaknesses. From this I would then like to construct a realistic schedule with the student in order to tackle each topic/modules individually so that their goals can be achieved.
During sessions verbal emphasis will be on discussion - if the student is able to verbally describe processes/concepts it is very likely that they understand. This is essential for the 'How Science Works' questions particularly used in GCSE and A Level exam papers.
I also have a variety of revision samples/models and textbooks that can be used (if wanted by the student).
