About Swati

Hi, I'm Swati! I'm a geneticist and an artist, and I love making biology easy to understand.

I hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science (Genomics & Oncology) and have spent 15+ years in genetics and cancer research at universities and hospitals in the US and Singapore. I've also taught university Biology 101 and genetics labs as a teaching assistant.

What makes my lessons different is that I teach visually. I turn complex topics into simple drawings, diagrams and real-life examples, so concepts finally click instead of being memorized.

I'm patient, friendly and organized, and I adapt every lesson to your pace and goals. Let's make biology your favorite subject!

About the lesson

My approach
I teach biology the way I understand it best: visually. As a geneticist and an artist, I turn complex ideas into simple hand-drawn diagrams, flowcharts and analogies, so students can see how a process works instead of memorizing it. I check understanding as we go, so we never move on until the idea has clicked.

A typical lesson
A quick check-in on what you're studying and where you're stuck.
A short explanation, sketched together step by step, from the basics up.
Real-world examples from medicine and research to make the concept stick.
Practice questions in the style of your tests or exams.
A short recap, a few practice questions to try, and a copy of the diagrams we drew together, so you have visual notes to review before your next test.

What sets me apart
I hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science (Genomics & Oncology) and have spent 15+ years in genetics and cancer research. I've also taught university Biology 101 and genetics labs as a teaching assistant. You get a tutor who knows the science deeply and has used it in real labs and hospitals, but who explains it in plain, friendly language and pictures.

Who my lessons are for

High school students in Grades 9–12 Biology, including Grade 11/12 University Biology and AP/IB Biology.
University and college students in introductory biology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology and cancer biology.
Students who want help with lab reports, scientific writing or reading research papers.

Lessons are available in person in Guelph or online with a shared whiteboard.
