About David

I’m a 24-year-old tutor with over 5 years of experience helping students improve their grades, confidence and understanding. I enjoy breaking down challenging problems into simple, easy-to-understand steps and adapting my teaching style to each individual student.

I have a strong analytical and academic background, having completed a degree in Sport & Exercise Science at Loughborough University before studying for a Master’s in Data Analytics at Bradley University in the USA. I am currently completing a Master’s in Physiology and Nutrition at Loughborough University, where I continue to work with data, statistics and quantitative analysis.

My academic background has given me extensive experience working with numbers, data, problem-solving and analytical thinking. I also studied Economics as part of my postgraduate studies, further developing my understanding of mathematical and quantitative concepts. Alongside my studies, I have competed as an international-level athlete, which has taught me discipline, consistency and how to perform under pressure — qualities I bring into every tutoring session.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, engaging and tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are looking to build confidence, improve their grades or achieve the highest possible marks.

I focus on developing a strong understanding of the underlying mathematical concepts rather than simply memorising methods. We will work through difficult topics step-by-step, identify areas of weakness and then apply the knowledge to exam-style questions. I place particular emphasis on exam technique, showing students how to approach questions logically and avoid common mistakes.

Lessons can cover GCSE and A-Level Maths, including topics such as algebra, equations, graphs, geometry, statistics, probability and problem-solving. I am particularly comfortable helping students who lack confidence in Maths and need concepts explained in a different way.

My teaching style is patient, clear and supportive, while still being focused on making measurable progress. The aim is not just to get students through individual questions, but to help them develop the confidence and problem-solving skills to tackle unfamiliar questions independently. I offer a free first lesson so we can establish the student's current level, identify areas to work on and create a plan for future sessions.
