About Xenia
I am currently a Master’s student in Conservation at the University of Exeter, with a Geography degree from the University of Bristol. My academic interests centre on physical geography, ecology, and environmental systems, alongside a strong personal passion for natural history and understanding the connections between human and natural processes. I enjoy sharing this interest with students and helping them see Geography as an engaging and relevant subject, while also achieving strong exam results.
I achieved three A grades at A-level (Geography, Economics, and Mathematics) and studied at a high-achieving grammar school, so I understand the pressures students can face in competitive academic environments. This experience shapes my approach to tutoring—I aim to be both supportive and approachable, creating a calm, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions while still being challenged to reach their full potential.
I tutor GCSE and A-Level students, supporting both high achievers aiming for top grades and those looking to build confidence and improve consistency.

My teaching approach is structured, results-focused, and tailored to each student. I focus first on building a clear understanding of core concepts, then developing exam technique by applying this knowledge to exam-style questions. A key part of my lessons is helping students understand how to structure high-mark answers, use case studies effectively, and consistently meet mark scheme criteria.
Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes and follows a clear structure: we begin by reviewing prior learning, move into focused teaching of key topics, and then apply this through targeted exam questions with guided feedback. I break down complex topics—such as climate systems, ecosystems, and global development—into simple, manageable ideas, making them easier to understand, retain, and apply under exam conditions. Lessons are always tailored to each student’s individual needs, whether that’s focusing more on content, exam technique, or building confidence in specific areas.
I regularly use past papers, model answers, and structured feedback to track progress and build confidence over time. Students are also supported with tailored resources and revision strategies to reinforce learning between sessions. I also offer the option for students to contact me outside of lesson time if they have an urgent question, for example, the day before an exam.
I have experience tutoring GCSE students, helping them to improve both their grades and confidence, and I am equally confident supporting A-Level students through my strong academic background and depth of subject knowledge. My teaching style is calm, clear, and encouraging, creating a focused environment where students feel comfortable asking questions while being consistently challenged to achieve their full potential.
Recommendations

Xenia tutored me for my GCSE and A level geography exams and was consistently brilliant. She is skilled at explaining things in a variety of different ways- if one method didn’t work for me, she always had plenty of others to ensure I had a full understanding. It’s clear that she’s up to date with exam syllabuses and understands examiner mark schemes. She’s also very down to earth and has a great sense of humour whilst maintaining professionalism.
Xenia is a beacon of light to all around her. She is one of the most supportive and caring people I know. Anyone luck enough to have her as a tutor will experience an abundance of support and patience. She is organized and will quickly become the best tutor you will ever have.
