About David
GCSE Chemistry Tutor (AQA, Edexcel & OCR) helping students in Years 9–11 achieve grades 7–9. I specialise in exam technique and strategy, with a focus on the exam board expectations.
Biology, Chemistry & Physics (KS3 & KS4).
• Graduate and former Vice-Captain of Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet- ranked the top grammar school in the UK by The Sunday Times.
• Recieved Medicine offers at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, KCL, Queen Mary's, Hull York and Plymouth; strong background and learning methadology in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths.
• I am relatively new to Superprof, but I have over three years of tutoring experience and most of my students have improved by two or more grades and progress to A-level Biology and Chemistry.
• Ran a science clinic at QE for top-performing students. I observed what really helps students reach top grades. It’s not just talent, it’s a methodical mix of structured teaching, proven methods, and targeted exam preparation. With these approaches, any child’s learning can be guided to achieve their full potential in a matter of weeks. I bring these insights into my lessons to help your child reach their goals confidently.
• I focus on helping students understand why concepts work, not just memorise them. As I've been taught: "when stress shuts down memory, understanding takes over". Insights about the exam are sprinkled into the lessons and integrated with the topic content as we go along.
• Provide a structured plan for each student to achieve their target grade, with checkpoints every few sessions to ensure progress. Students who stick to the lesson structure can often cover a single chapter in as little as two lessons, leaving lots of room before the exams for technique work!
• Recent GCSE experience means strong awareness of current specifications, examiner expectations, and common pitfalls. It's often hard to articulate your questions as a student studying a difficult topic, so it helps that I've been there too struggling on the same topics- I can often empathise and clear up any potential misunderstandings before they develop!
• Enhanced DBS check completed
• ADHD Friendly
If you're aiming to move to grades 7-9, or simply want clearer understanding and stronger exam performance, feel free to send a message and we can discuss how I can help!

After a free 30-minute consultation, I create a tailored learning plan for each student, with checkpoints every few sessions to ensure steady progress towards their target grade.
Parents receive brief feedback after every lesson, outlining progress, areas to improve, and next steps.
Each 1-hour lesson typically includes:
• Clear explanations of key GCSE concepts
• Guided practice with exam-style and application questions
• Insight into how examiners award marks using real mark schemes
• Identification of weaknesses and strategies to improve them
My aim is to help students approach their GCSEs with clarity, confidence, and strong exam technique. With the right structure and consistent practice, those higher grades become far more achievable.
Having recently gone through the GCSE system myself, I understand the pressures of exam season and what it takes to achieve top grades. It is my mission to prove that getting grades is less about luck, but more about structure.
If you feel this approach would suit your child, I would be happy to discuss their needs further.

David has rich academics having attended Queen Elizabeth's School by eccelling in 11+ exams. He has also successfully gained university admission interviews as a result of stellar admission test scores. This showcases his high understanding and ability to master academic material. David is an ambitious and disciplined student who is hoping to study Medicine at university and go on to become a Doctor. These achievements show his talent and serve as an inspiration for those around him.
David is an incredible friend of mine. He is a great tutor when it comes to helping people(especially me) in their studies. He is very passionate about biology especially as he is an offer holder for medicine.
Through working at care homes and school clubs with David, I noticed that he came of as really engaging and supportive at all times, which combined with his excellent academic track record sets him up to be a great tutor for all ages. Furthermore, through observing one of his tutoring sessions in person, I saw that he worked hard to build a good rapport with each student, preparing customised lesson plans and questions for his students alongside a genuine desire to see them succeed.
David is a really good biology tutor who explains things clearly and makes difficult topics easy to understand. He’s patient, supportive, and always makes sure you actually understand the content instead of just memorising it. He helped me improve my confidence and overall understanding a lot. I’d definitely recommend him to any student looking for a great bio tutor.
David has helped me so much! He is really patient and will not only help you learn the content but also understand it and apply it to exam questions. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a tutor.
Although David no longer teaches my son, George, as he has completed his GCSEs with 3 9s in his science subjects (of which we are very proud since he was predicted 6s), I can strongly recommend David for his approach and dedication during his lessons. He always goes the extra mile to ensure understanding of the content, and we really appreciate his effort over the 2 years of hard work!
David is friendly and happy to help. From my science class, I know him to be kind, hard-working and motivated and I believe that these qualities would help a tutor support a child's education greatly. As a teacher, David is patient and once learned, can explain clearly and in good detail.
David is helping my son with his biology, physics and chemistry. David has his own way to guide his student to understand the topic and I can see my son has been making progress already and showing great interest in the subjects now.
He is a wonderful person who will help people achieve their goals and will not give up.
David is an excellent tutor as he excels in both GCSE Maths and all 3 sciences. He is a very friendly person and is very enthusiastic about helping others, especially when it comes to science.
David is a very studious student, attending one of the most prestigious schools (QE Boys). He is always keen to help me when I need it, and is very cheerful and encouraging! If you need help with science, you should choose David as he is very thorough with the specification and knows his way around the course.
