About Ava

Hi! My name is Ava, and I'm a senior in college, graduating this May with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-5). Through my experience in public kindergarten and fourth-grade classrooms, a full semester of tutoring a kindergarten student, and my work as a substitute teacher and school-age childcare teacher, I've developed a strong foundation in supporting children's learning and development.

I have a particular passion for reading and literacy and enjoy helping students strengthen their skills while building confidence in their abilities. I use current, research-based instructional practices to create engaging, personalized lessons that meet students where they are academically. I believe every child can grow with the right support, encouragement, and learning opportunities.

As your child's tutor, I will strive to provide a welcoming, patient, and supportive environment where questions are encouraged, progress is celebrated, and learning feels rewarding. I look forward to partnering with your family to help your child reach their goals!

About the lesson

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of skills, followed by targeted instruction and guided practice. Students then apply what they’ve learned through interactive activities and finish with a review of their progress. I especially enjoy helping students develop reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, and other foundational literacy skills.

My lessons are designed for elementary-aged students in kindergarten through fifth grade who need extra support, additional practice, or help building confidence. I strive to create a welcoming, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. I can’t wait to help your child learn and grow!
