About Archie
I am a first year student at Durham University, studying Biological Sciences. I am a hardworking student that has helped me achieve strong exam results. As well as this, I am also easy-going, and know how to make revision fun, and not just sitting and staring at a book for extended periods of time. Aside from work, I am a well-rounded student and have taken part in drama productions, such as the musical 'Spamalot'. As well as this, I am also a sporty individual, having played cricket to an A team standard at school as well as rugby. Other sports of interest include skiing and diving. Having gone to Eton College, I have learnt valuable skills in order to help me pass exams and learnt the best techniques for revising. I will strive to learn how best my tutee revises (auditory, visually or through writing) and apply the appropriate techniques in order to help them to achieve their goals. My tutoring experience will be fun and interactive and can include learning 'trips' if wanted, to see how a certain subject or theory is applied in the real world. Work will be set at the end of tutorials with an optional amount of work to do between each tutorial. Previous teaching experience includes having been a mentor for 6 months, and helping children at Slough and Eton School develop their reading skills (these children were 10 years old) and helping develop poetry analysis skills for 15-16 year olds. I have also done previous tutoring work for family friends before. Archie (a friend’s son) helped my son out with his science GCSE mocks, with particular emphasis on biology. He was very patient and understanding with areas that he struggled to grasp, and was effective at helping him efficiently organise his notes too.
