Thomas is an extremely hard working and dedicated teacher of mathematics who has worked at our school for over 5 years. During this time he has become an essential member of the department who has taken charge of the teaching of mathematics in the sixth form. He has revolutionised our delivery of maths in the sixth form and our numbers have increased an enormous amount since he took charge. He is the most qualified teacher in the school to teach Maths at all levels, showing superb understanding and skilful explanations of mathematics and Further mathematics at A level and he also very successfully runs a STEP club for those students who are thinking of applying for mathematics at top universities. We have gone from teaching around 6 Further maths students per year to over 30 per year in the sixth form, which is down to his quality and administration of the pathways from GCSE to post 16 maths. He has developed a whole series of extremely high-quality A level assignments which have really helped our students make the progress they are capable of and which have helped other teachers in the department structure their teaching. These assignments have high quality feedback built in, with links for every question to places students should go should they need further practice or help. He is very sensible with how he wants the teaching of maths in sixth form to occur, and he communicates his instructions with great clarity. Thomas regularly provides assemblies for whole year groups in the lower school where he discusses the positive aspects of maths beyond GCSE and explains well the different pathways available. He is excellent at providing advice to students at all levels as he understands extremely well how maths progresses at all levels. Thomas always looks to improve personally, to improve the department and to improve the experience of the students he teaches. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
