About Bruno

Fully England-certified (QTS) teacher of Sociology and Psychology, with vast experience in classroom teaching and online tutoring.

I am an external examiner (marker) for an AS/A Level Sociology exam board. This means I have great insight into what A-Level exam boards look for in exam answers (please message me for more specific information on this- I cannot state here which exam board I work for).

I have a First Class Honours degree in Sociology from the University of Glasgow.

I have a Masters of Science (MSc.) in Psychology from the University of Liverpool (Merit award).

I have over 9 years' experience of teaching A-Level Sociology, and 1.5 years' experience teaching A-Level Psychology. I taught Cambridge International AS and A Level Sociology, and later Psychology, at a WASC-accredited international school between August 2011 and November 2018, and again from August 2019 to present. Between January and June 2019 I taught Scottish Higher Sociology (equivalent of AS Level) at a school in Scotland.

I am a fully GTC-registered teacher of Sociology and Psychology. Full GTC registration is the Scottish direct equivalent of England’s QTS.

I have a PGCEi (Postgraduate Certificate of Education international) from the University of Nottingham, for which the university awarded me the highest possible award: Distinction.

My excellent Sociology and Psychology subject knowledge, proven high level of pedagogical understanding and ability, and many years' experience in the field have made me skillful at explaining sociological and psychological concepts and theories in a manner students can relate to and understand. I am very skilled in finding published studies and books tailored to your specific essay/dissertation needs, and I am delighted to mark work that you have done outside of the normal lesson time at no extra charge. I am extremely learner-centred, meaning I base my performance evaluation on how much YOU have learned (not on how well I believe have explained something). Being learner-centred means I put great effort into understanding YOUR needs and ability level.

About the lesson

Tailored to individual student needs, I explain key themes in depth, in a way that the student can understand. Anything other than the achievement of student mastery of the topic, I consider a personal failure. Past paper questions are used to help work on essay structure, and to allow a discussion of what is meant by common question wordings.
