About Himaja

Hi, I’m Himaja—an AI Specialist and Data Scientist with 14+ years of global industry experience, including leadership roles at Ernst & Young (EY) and Standard Chartered Bank, and a Master’s degree from Northeastern University, Boston, where I also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

I’ve applied Math, Statistics, and Data Science in real, high-impact environments—from quantitative modeling and machine learning to risk analytics, regulatory compliance, and fraud detection. This means when we learn together, we don’t stop at theory—we focus on why concepts matter and how they’re used in the real world.

My approach to teaching is simple: I care less about where you’re starting and more about understanding who you are—and helping you get where you want to be. Classes are clear, practical, and judgment-free. We break complex ideas into simple mental models, connect them to real-life examples, and move at a pace that works for you—no pressure, no rote memorization.

I work with students of all levels—school, university, and early-career professionals. Whether you’re preparing for exams, strengthening fundamentals, or building skills for internships and jobs, each session is tailored to your goals and learning style.

My sessions are structured, supportive, and focused on real progress. Questions are always welcome, curiosity is encouraged, and small wins are celebrated. The aim isn’t just to learn—it’s to leave each session feeling confident enough to apply what you’ve learned independently.

If you’re looking for a tutor who’s experienced, approachable, and genuinely invested in your growth, I’d love to work with you.

About the lesson

I focus on an interactive, problem-solving approach, ensuring my students actively engage with the material. Instead of traditional lectures, I make learning immersive by using real-world case studies

I use a blend of live coding sessions, collaborative whiteboard exercises, and data visualization tools to deepen understanding. By incorporating tools like Python, R, and data platforms, I ensure students leave each session with hands-on experience. I also provide personalized learning paths, leveraging adaptive learning techniques to match each student’s pace and style.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
- Introduction (5-10 minutes): We start by discussing the topic and its real-world relevance.
- Concept Breakdown (15-20 minutes): I explain the theory in an easy-to-understand manner, using analogies, visuals, and examples.
- Hands-on Problem Solving (20-30 minutes): Students apply the concept through exercises or coding challenges.
- Discussion & Q&A (10-15 minutes): We review their approach, clarify doubts, and discuss alternative solutions.
- Assignment & Review (5-10 minutes): I give personalized homework with actionable feedback.
