About Jasper
Hello, I am a current student at the university of York studying a master’s degree in biochemistry. I took my A levels 1 year ago (AQA) so am familiar with the new syllabus, achieving an A* in biology and an A in chemistry (and an A* in all sciences and maths at GCSE). Although I don’t have much professional tutoring experience outside of group studies during my A Levels and being a mentor for new undergraduate students at the university of York, I can offer lots of advice on the trickier parts of the courses which I studied recently, as well as exam technique and helping students to identify any weaknesses and hopefully help them improve. Being a student, I am also happy to answer any questions students or parents might have about studying A-Levels or a degree, university life, applying, and what to expect.

I am excited both to talk to and encourage students about the subjects I am passionate about as well as help bright young students excel and reach their full potential and will help in any way I can. I will prepare each session in advance, tailoring it to the student’s needs, including leaving time in each session for the student to give feedback and highlight any areas where they personally think they need to cover and where they are improving. I hope to help and reassure students with my recent experience of studying the same content they are and hopefully help them see why I love this subject so much. I also appreciate there is a difference between knowledge and being able to answer questions, so I will also help with exam technique to ensure students get the best grade they can, by covering lots of past questions and reviewing mark schemes in each session. I can also tutor Biology, so can help with knowledge of that course, as well as synoptic links between the two if this is of intrest to you as well.
