About Salonie

Hello! I’m Salonie, a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) with over a decade of professional experience and a real passion for helping students succeed in maths. Having worked as a Finance Director and business coach, I bring real-world insight and a deep understanding of how to make numbers meaningful and engaging for learners of all levels. I specialise in tutoring students from Year 7 through to GCSE and A-Level, as well as supporting young learners who are just beginning their maths journey. For the past three years, I’ve also volunteered as a maths tutor with The Access Project, supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds to improve their grades and build a stronger understanding of maths. Additionally, I’ve spent the last four years mentoring aspiring ACCA professionals—guiding them through their qualification journey and helping them build the confidence and clarity needed to succeed. These experiences have deepened my commitment to education and reinforced my belief in the power of tailored, one-to-one support. My approach is warm, encouraging, and results-driven—I believe every student has the ability to thrive with the right support and mindset. Tutoring, for me, is more than just helping students pass exams. It's about building confidence, resilience, and a genuine understanding of mathematical concepts that will benefit them for life. I’m also fully DBS checked and take safeguarding and student wellbeing very seriously. I strive to create a safe, open learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and discovering that maths can be enjoyable. Whether you're a student looking to build confidence, catch up, or push for top grades—or a parent seeking tailored support for your child—I’d love to help. Every session is customised to individual goals, learning styles, and needs.

About the lesson

In our lessons, my focus is on building a strong understanding of maths while boosting your confidence. Whether you're in Year 7, preparing for GCSEs, or working towards A-Levels, each session is tailored to your unique needs and learning style. I help you grasp the "why" behind each concept, making it easier to retain and apply what you learn in exams. Lessons are interactive, with a mix of theory, problem-solving, and exam practice to suit your goals. I offer both online and in-person sessions, with online lessons available for students within the Greenwich, London area. For online sessions, I use tools like screen-sharing and virtual whiteboards. In-person, we focus on hands-on practice. Every lesson is designed to help you grow, build confidence, and achieve the results you're aiming for.

She has catered to my needs in our sessions; she has set me tasks to do individually to help build my strengths in topics, she has explained step by step on how to solve equations, she has been patient with me when I find a topic difficult, and she has a positive attitude towards helping me allowing me to ask her questions without fear of judgement. She has been overwhelmingly understanding of my position in learning and tries her hardest to push me above my targets in my academics. I have never encountered a issue with her; she is always on time and respectful towards any rearrangements of the sessions I made.
