About Dion

Hi everyone!

My name is Dion and I am currently a graduate student of the University of Liverpool, who studied English Literature over a three year course. I absolutely love reading both poetry and novels, from Gatsby to Shakespeare, though my favourite genre by far is crime fiction! My other interests include writing short stories, reviewing films and playing the saxophone.

I am friendly, patient and have a lot of experience with various learning styles. When I was younger I struggled often with reading and English as a subject but through perseverance and few good teachers, I managed to excel at the subject and get into a Russell group university to study the subject I love!
I want to help you do the same; get the grades you need to achieve what you want.

I can mark practice essays, provide resources and set tasks that help learning. Please let me know beforehand what you are looking to cover in the session, it helps me to prepare for it, so that we can really make the most of the time.

About the lesson

There are three steps which I am going to share with you that helped me get top marks to help you get the grade youwant:

1) We'll discuss things in which your child likes and dislikes, and what he/she thinks they might need to work on.

2) I'll work out a plan to help you understand the basics first - something that's never taught in school. Once students understand WHY we do things and HOW you might apply them in the real world, you'll find it much easier to crack the tough questions.

3) We're going to tackle the hard ones and transcend them!

I aim to provide an engaging and encouraging environment to help you learn effectively and will tailor my sessions to your needs, allowing them to focus on aspects that concern them most, whether that is the actual content of the syllabus or exam technique.

I am not going to merely present the content for you as I believe that does not promote real growth or development. Instead I seek to give you the ability and the confidence to discuss and create their own ideas with the basic background knowledge as their foundation.

Lessons ensure enough resources for revision and by refreshing the basic understanding of processes and concepts students should be able to move confidently forwards. I structure my lessons through co-operatively setting goals to target questions or concerns, resulting in students clearly seeing progress, whilst directly targeting the specification. I teach exam techniques alongside knowledge by looking at assessment questions, which I believe is the best way of revising.

He is a considerate person, who listens to others and will be good with people who are not confident as well as ones who are, but need someone to talk to about ideas. He is particularly interesting on the way image and texts work together.
