About Yusra
Hi, I’m Yusra! I am a native Arabic speaker and a current Health Sciences student at McMaster University. Growing up bilingual, I developed a deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the Arabic language, and I love helping others discover that same connection. My background in science has taught me the importance of patience and precision, which I bring into every session to ensure my students feel supported and confident. Whether you are just starting your journey or looking to refine your conversational skills, I’m here to share the study habits and cultural insights that make learning both effective and enjoyable.

I use a 'Concept-First' approach. Instead of rote memorization, I ensure students understand the roots of the Arabic language and the 'why' behind scientific concepts. I use interactive digital whiteboards to draw out diagrams and linguistic structures in real-time. I DON'T believe in rigid lesson plans; instead, I keep a close eye on your specific "areas of growth" and build a tracker to make sure we’re closing those gaps together. I love showing the "functional" side of Arabic, which means we won't just look at formal Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) but also the colloquial ways people actually speak in daily life. My goal is to make sure you feel just as comfortable having a casual conversation as you do reading a formal text, all while keeping our sessions relaxed, patient, and enjoyable.
