About Gabriel
My story:
I'm originally from Spain but moved to Edinburgh when I turned 18 to study Biology at Edinburgh University!
In high school, I was deeply interested in both languages and natural sciences. I achieved the highest grades of my class in all subjects, including Spanish and literature, which provided me with a deeper knowledge and understanding of the language (aside from being a native speaker!).
At university, I gained experience teaching biology through tutorials at university, which I did as a volunteer. This inspired me to start teaching my language too, to a few friends that were interested in learning it.
It was then that I realised I love teaching and learning, and through word of mouth I became a tutor!
Now, I can confidently say I have an efficient method, after motivating children with no interest, and helping students with no Spanish knowledge to be able to comfortably travel in South America.

I'm kind, personable and professional. I strive to team-up with my students to build real connections. While I like keeping a flexible approach in both my teaching and your learning, I aim to set learning goals and objectives with you to be able to keep us on the right track!
While my approach is flexible in terms of times, frequency of lessons and teaching styles, based on personal experience, I find holding weekly 1h-long classes on Google Meet the most efficient method.
My classes are always tailored to my students preferences, ability and goals. I believe learning a language has to be interesting and fun, otherwise you won't commit/your learnings won't stick! For this reason, I emphasise on conversation and real-world Spanish. I prepare presentations, quizlets and games, while using articles, podcasts and videos to keep lessons engaging and interesting for you.
I have been tutoring for more than 2 years, helping students go from 0 to being able to communicate efficiently and travel in Spanish-speaking countries comfortably.
I have tutored both teenagers and adults, ranging from 11 to +60 years old! :)

My rate reflects my experience, professionalism and commitment to our lessons.
Before our classes, I'll research useful resources, often including videos, articles and podcasts, and prepare tailored presentation slides for us to work together to help you visualise the content and learn faster and efficiently.
During our classes, I´ll make notes on new vocabulary that arises and common mistakes made/suggestions for improvements!
After our classes, I'll email you both the slides and the notes taken, and set a few goals for the week, including specific actions/revision/learning for us to do! This includes revising any specific content, completing exercises, reading a small article, or listening to a podcast for us to cover the following week!
