About Ella

Hi! I’m Ella, a first-year medical student at UCL offering maths and science tuition for students in Year 3 to Year 11. I completed my GCSEs in 2023 with 9s & 8s in maths and the sciences, and went on to study Chemistry, Biology, Economics, and AS Maths at A-Level. I know how challenging science can feel in lower secondary school—I used to find it tricky myself! But after developing a real passion for the subjects and experimenting with different study techniques, I saw my grades improve dramatically. I’d love to help other students find that same confidence. I have over 150 hours of experience tutoring students for the 11+ and Years 7–11, and I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. In my spare time, I enjoy ballet and baking, which help me bring patience and creativity to my teaching. If you’d like a tutor who understands the ups and downs of learning and can help you reach your goals, I’d be happy to help!

About the lesson

During our lessons, I work with my tutees to identify and target their weaknesses, whether that may be in understanding processes or the ability to use their broad knowledge of the topic to apply to more difficult, abstract questions that often come up in exams. I will ask for a list of topics that your child would like to work through and plan lessons accordingly. If some skills are similar or interlinked, I will put such lessons consecutively as it can put the learning into context and encourages more cohesive learning. I believe that this really helps my tutees become more capable students by allowing them to look at questions and content with a wider view, which will help when difficulty increases.
