About Sophia

As a published children's author I travel to schools around the country promoting a love of reading and writing. My goal is to give children confidence in what they can do, and to help them learn a set of skills that will stand them in good stead not only in exams but throughout their lives at school. Having lived in South London for 20 years I know the schools well, and can support parents through the stress of the entry system too.
I am also an experienced teacher in the areas of fiction and academic writing. I teach Writing for Children at City University, and am a Writing Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund, assisting higher education students with developing the skills they need to tackle their writing assignments. I mentor aspiring writers and give masterclasses in various aspects of fiction writing.

Perfect! Outstanding tutor, highly recommended
I asked Sophia to help my son to prepare for a scholarship at Winchester College (Winchester Election) in 2017. Coming from a French background, and not having done many years studying English as a subject, my son struggled in English literature and analysis. Sophia helped him in structuring his ideas and achieving higher grades in English. Her support was unvaluable and she helped our son to get ahead in English at Winchester. He is now one of the best in "Div" (Winchester subject based on English and History) of his year.
