About Cara

I am an enthusiastic and friendly medical student from Edinburgh. I’m currently in my first year of study at the University of Leeds. I left school in 2022, where I studied Chemistry, Biology and Spanish to Advanced Higher level. I enjoyed tutoring in these subjects for younger years in my final year at school.

About the lesson

I have up-to-date knowledge of the SQA & GCSE curriculum and exam style. My lessons will be centred around the student and the learning style that works for them. For Biology and Chemistry I am happy to focus on specific queries as well as summarise key topics in a concise and understandable way. I will work through exam-style questions, providing the student with worked solutions in preparation for applying the knowledge they’ve acquired in an exam setting. I can also assist with exam technique and signpost useful resources. For Spanish I can work with the student on any aspect of the course. I am happy to practise speaking with them in preparation for their oral exam, where we can focus on key grammar points as well as good foundation sentences that they can have prepared. I can also assist with the reading and writing aspect of the course by focusing on vocab, grammar and key topics that have been covered in class. I can provide tips on exam technique from personal experience. I have experience working with young people at my current swim teaching job, where I plan and run lessons for small groups and 1-1.

Cara has vast experience with tutoring younger years, having been a reliable, exceedingly competent and extremely popular tutor under the peer learning scheme established at her school. Being the leader of this scheme myself, I was able to see first hand the command Cara had of the various course curriculums, and the improvement experienced by each of her tutees.
