About Sienna

Hello,
I'm Sienna, a master's student in the didactics of French as a second language, a primary-school teacher, and a language learner. I recently graduated with two degrees in education and humanities. I'm bilingual French-Australian, and I came to study and live in France at the age of 16. I help students and adults from around the world regain confidence in learning and speaking a foreign language, whether their goals are classroom-curriculum based or travel oriented.

Learning a foreign language gave me the opportunity to discover another country and enrich my studies twice in my life. The first time was when I moved to the south of France to complete high school, and the second was during my international university exchange in Argentina, followed by two more years of living and studying in Spanish.

This convinced me of the power of teaching and studying foreign languages. I have since then taught students aged from 3 to 70, given more than 900 lessons, and built a personal resource library, fed over the years by what I most love about French culture and what resources best guide language learners. I feel confident guiding students from diverse backgrounds and skill sets towards their goals in French

- A degree in sciences of education means that I have a clear, widely-read, and educated teaching philosophy with a solid, scientific foundation backing methods.

- A degree in humanities (philosophy, literature, Latin, history) means I have a close connection to many aspects of French culture and tradition.

Alongside my French lessons, I also teach English and Spanish up to proficiency, and I aspire to become a teacher in rural or humanitarian missions. I enjoy learning new languages, learning, and travelling.

Teaching Experience :

I have taught over 50 students from different cultural, educational, and linguistic backgrounds.
My last 900 lessons have consolidated a professional and natural ease in coaching each student towards their goals and aspirations for the language. Both as a former international school student and teacher, I have studied the PYP, MYP, and IB programs. My teaching degree has given me the ability to soundly understand a wide diversity of curriculums, their perspectives and expectations of students.

I have always valued a communicative and practical approach for travel-inspired learnings, aiming for independence in real-life conversation and strong language-learning practices.

Children :
I have over 7 years of experience teaching children and have loved each one of them. My classes respect children’s developmental learning stage and welcome their strengths. We learn through songs, traditional comptines, books, games, and projects.

As a teacher in French primary school, I taught English lessons from grades 1-6.
The challenge of teaching young children remotely and in big class groups encouraged me to become playfully innovative in order to capture my students' attention and interest.

My rate includes :
- 7/7 availability for questions, writing corrections, and coaching, with last-minute booking to accommodate students with family responsibilities
- personalised homework, set and corrected outside lesson time on request.
- consistent and regular written feedback
- an authentic relationship based on sharing of language and culture as a guiding thread

My approach and philosophy :
I believe the role of a teacher is one of guidance and motivation, with an ethical engagement of dedication and responsibility. I take on the responsibility to each of my students to accompany their learning, through times of focus and discipline just as much as through those of doubt and confusion, of low motivation and high pressure. I do so through personalised and rich cultural resources, mindset coaching, flexible lesson plans, and a strong teacher-student relationship built on trust.

By providing both high support and high trust, I respect each student, fully believing in their potential. My lessons are always prepared, deeply personalised, and engaging.

- detailed and real-time note-taking organising words, phrases, and pronunciation for conversational learners.
- a warm, patient approach that consistently reveals genuine interest in my students and their lives
- a fully prepared lesson plan guided by language targets while offering choice and flexibility to each student
- personalised course material (flashcards, game ressources, songs ,etc) and feedback for young learners to practice with their families.
