About Serena
Hi!
My name is Serena and I'm a freelance teacher who can teach English, Psychology, Journalism, Gender Studies and related subjects. I have more than a year of formal, classroom teaching experience in a school where I taught grades 4 to 10. I did my Bachelor's with a triple major in Women Studies, Psychology and Journalism.
I have a holistic approach to teaching and I support not just the academic development but also the development of other aspects of a child's life such as their creativity and their ability to rationalise and think critically, among others.
I've worked as a tutor for Sling, as a writing consultant for English First and worked at Master's School as an English teacher for more than a year.

I prefer pacing my class according to the student and what they're comfortable with. I understand that each student has a different learning method and I respect that. I believe in customising how I approach the syllabus based on the student. I use a lot of relevant examples from day-to-day life while teaching to better help the student understand how they can apply what they've learnt to their life.
