About Asa
I am a French-English Durham Classics and Ancient History graduate who has been teaching a variety of subjects since I was 15. As a writer I have published multiple poems, short stories and am currently shortlisted for a writing award with Penguin. Many of my students were attempting to learn either English or French and I have managed to transmit my linguistic ability through lessons. As an older brother to two siblings I have also consistently attempted to explain their literature homework to them.
Academically I am most interested in mythology and ritual but have a wide knowledge of the Ancient world and have taken multiple English Lit. modules with a high degree of success.

I believe the most important factors of a lesson is learning. Different students respond to different stimuli but there are overarching characteristics. Once I have managed to understand what is best suited to the specific student, then I assess their knowledge and how it ties into their curriculum and work off that. Communication is essential and I feel that the students have to be able to talk to me about what they think rather than what they want me to think they know.
With my time spent in academia I have been exposed to a wide variety of teaching methods and have a strong conviction that the most important factor is the teacher itself and I will try and work for you, just as I expect you to work for me.
